INDUSTRIAL AND GOVERNMENTAL RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
  1. –Present Kamchatka Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography

FISH PATHOLOGIST/BACTERIOLOGIST

The Kamchatka Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography’s mission is to investigate and protect the biological resources of the Kamchatka peninsula.  Kamchatka is home to the world’s largest salmon populations.

Main Responsibilities:

-Diagnosis of bacterial diseases and isolation of pathogens of hatchery-reared fish
-Investigation of epizootic situations in natural reservoirs
-Determination of bacterial pathogens in crabs
-Investigation of pathogens affecting the commodity quality of fish

Achievements:
-Investigated the bacterial flora of salmon in rivers and lakes of Kamchatka
-Diagnosed vibriosis in pink salmon in the Karaginsky gulf of the Bering Sea (Kamchatka)
-Isolated the obligate bacterial pathogen, Aeromonas salmonicida, from spawning salmon in fish hatcheries and in Azabache Lake
-Bacterial investigation of crabs on East and West coasts of Kamchatka

     1989-1995 Sumskaya Biological Factory, Ukraine
MICROBOLOGIST
The Sumskaya Biological Factory produces biological  preparations for animals including vaccines and serums.

Main Responsibilities:
-Prepared vaccines against swine fever and Teshena’s disease.
